Denim gets a winter makeover

I am totally obsessed with DENIM -- denim jeans, denim jackets, denim vests, even denim shirts.
Denim is an all-year trend. You can rock it in the spring, the summer, the fall, and yes, you guessed it, even the winter.
You just have to know the "ins" and the "outs" when it comes to dressing it up.
Luckily, Catherine sent me an article all about how to update your denim clothes this coming season.

Enjoy!!!

Denim is an essential part of every woman’s wardrobe and is a classic look that will never go out of fashion. Wardrobes across the country are home to flares, skinnies, denim skirts, hot pants and denim shirts.

That’s not to say that our denim wear doesn’t need to be updated. It’s always best to invest in some key pieces that you know will stand the test of time, but it’s also important to look out for a few twists on the traditional to keep up with the trends. One idea might be to start by checking out the great selection of Levi jeans at Very.co.uk, then follow these tips to give you some inspiration when updating your denim over the coming months.

I am definitely going to get a pair of burgundy skinny jeans!Levi's High Rise Skinny Jeans - Portland Brown

Colour

Pastel-toned jeans brightened up outfits in spring and summer this year, but are less appropriate now winter is upon is. Coloured jeans should still top your to-buy list, though be sure to avoid those baby blues and pretty pinks. Instead, choose darker denim wear – deep burgundies, browns, plums and wines are slimming and work best over the festive period.

Denim jackets

Cropped styles with three-quarter sleeves were a hit on the high street this year and were a staple piece of outerwear for many of us. Look out for shorter styles that are more appropriate for the cold winter weather: think thick sheepskin linings and full-length sleeves. Pair with chunky ankle boots for a casual look.

Double denim

You may have sneered at this in the past, but now you can turn heads in double denim for all the right reasons. Avoid matching tones – pair dark indigo skinny jeans with a pale denim shirt.

Western

Channel cowgirl chic with fringing, stud details and embroidery on your denim wear. This look featured on the runway at Isabel Marant’s recent shows and has already moved to the high street. Don’t fancy going too way out West? Work the cowgirl-trend with ripped or distressed denim.

Updating a classic look is easy when you invest in a few choice denim pieces that will ensure you look fabulous this winter.
