Happy Halloween!!!

Happy Halloween, you guys!!!
Oh my gosh, my second favorite holiday is here. I'm so excited. :)

I woke up extra early today because my brother needed help dressing up for school.
He went as Edward Cullen complete with the brooding eyes and makeup -- white foundation, dark circled eyes, hollowed cheeks, and SPARKLES!
Everyone knows Edward sparkles in the sun. ;]

Check out these yummy Halloween-themed treats!
They are all just super cute and I bet they taste so delicious:

MY COSTUME:

Beauty Trending: Black NEVER Goes Out of Style

Dark colored nail polishes are my all-time favorite shades to wear.
They look very formal and sophisticated, (like what the article says below), and on top of that, they look good with pretty much every outfit.

Yes, I know that black is very dark and gothic, but who's to say black nail polish is only appropriate for the Halloween season?
They way to "unscary-fy" the black nail polish look? Short with patent leather shine

1.  Buff your nails
2. Add a base coat before anything to prevent your nails from staining.
3. Apply 2 thin coats to make the look dense and rich
4. Finish with a topcoat.

I'm going to get a lot of use out my Milani Nail Lacquer black nail polish this fall, that's forsure!

How about you? What's your favorite nail polish color?

NYX: Stay Matte But Not Flat Liquid Foundation

Happy Thursday, everyone!
One more day until the weekend, so hang on tight. :D

Today, I'm going to be reviewing my NYX liquid foundation.
I got it from the NYX booth at IMATS along with my concealer jar and my cream blush.
I must say, NYX is probably one of my favorite makeup brands ever.

Oh oh oh, 3 more months till IMATS!!! Who's excited?

Stay Matte But Not Flat Liquid Foundation
$7.00

New Stay Matte But Not Flat Liquid Foundation provides full coverage of mineral enriched matte finish. The oil-free and water-based formula is perfect for in the studio or all day long!

• OIL FREE
• WATER BASED
• FULL COVERAGE
• MINERAL ENRICHED
• MATTE FINISH

I got it in the shade, SMF05 Soft Beige.
My NYX concealer is in the CJ04 Beige so it matches my foundation fairly well.
I usually hate putting on foundation because it tends to be heavy on my skin, however, this particular one is really light
It spreads very easily. I use a sponge because I feel like I can control it more compared to using a foundation brush.
It has a medium to heavy coverage.
It doesn't clump nor crease
It gives my face a matte finish -- no shine, no grease.
After application, I usually set it with my 020 Revlon PhotoReady powder and it gives me a flawless look.

I am seriously in love with this foundation!!!
I'm going to have to stock up on them next IMATS.

What's your current foundation? Have you tried this NYX Liquid Foundation? How did you like it?

Chicnova: Black & White

$30.00

Crochet patterns.
Light and airy.
Loose fit.
Black and white combination.
See-through material.
Garterized hem/sleeves.

I got this crochet sweater from Chicnova and I think it is absolutely PERFECT for fall.
It has a loose fit which makes it comfy.
I wore a nude tank top under because it is see-through, however, you can also substitute it with a bandeau bra when the weather is hot.
For my bottoms, I just wore plain black leggings. Then I paired the whole outfit with my Go Jane riding boots.
I accessorized with a gold rose patterned bracelet and a minty green pashmina scarf for a splash of color.

I wore this out on a so-so weather so I didn't have to add another layer for warmth.
But when the weather starts to gets colder, I'll wear long sleeves underneath and maybe a black leather jacket over to keep me warm and cozy.

1 High-Waist Shorts, 3 Different Ways

A trend that was super "in" during the summer: high-waist shorts.
Everywhere you look, you'll see girls left and right rocking them.

I got my first pair from Go Jane.

These shorts are super comfortable!
They're stretchy so they take on my shape really nicely.
I am obsessed with distressed jeans so I really like the torn-apart vibe of these shorts.
When it comes to denim, I prefer darker shades over light wash. I just feel like it goes with other clothes way better.

You can see all aspects of the shorts in the photos above.
It has a diamond encrusted button
The distressed fabric in front of the shorts is also accompanied by a cluster of silver chains which add a grunge-like look.
The hem also has a bit of fringes while the back pocket is also distressed.
The whole shorts is just DISTRESSED all around!

However, just because summer ended, doesn't mean that we can't rock these shorts anymore right?

Here are 3 different ways to transition the ubiquitous Summer high-waist shorts to the Fall season:

Outfit #1: Boho Chic

Since the weather is still warm, I can get away with wearing shorts.
I made sure to put on a thick knitted cardigan from Forever 21 over my outfit, so I won't get cold just in case the weather suddenly becomes chilly.
I paired it with a plain black tank since there is a lot going on with my cover up.
For accessories, I wore a feather necklace that I put together (using a gold chain and feather earrings) and a pair of brown and white bangles.
I also wore my trusty brown gladiator sandals that I got from Target for a comfortable, relaxed look.

Outfit #2: Denim on Denim

Bringing back the Denim on Denim trend.
In the 2001 American Music Awards, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake rocked the Denim on Denim look. And to be honest, it was quite scary. They went all out denim from head to toe!!! Now that's just way too much.

I put together a more toned down look.
I wore my chambray shirt from Old Navy with the shorts.
I played up the look with colorful accessories: blue choker necklace, bright pink watch, and blue and gold bracelets.
For my shoes, I wore my gold strappy sandals. (As you can tell, I'm a big sandals fan!)

Outfit #3: Knee-High

I'm normally the type of girl who doesn't like to pair short shorts with boots. But surprisingly, I really liked how this look turned out.

I paired a plain nude top with the high-waist shorts. I wore my lavender Zara blazer over it and added a red wine scarf for a pop of color. Red wine is one of Fall 2012's colors, so I wanted to incorporate that in.
Now for the main part, I wore my knee-high brown leather boots from Go Jane with thigh-high black nylon socks to keep me warm during those chilly days.

Will you still be rocking your high-waist shorts this Fall?
Which outfit is your favorite?

Fantastic Fall Fun
By the time fall rolls around, you are probably ready to shuck off the limp tank tops and shorts of the summer! Just in time, fall comes, and you can start piling on all the layers that your little fashionista heart desires! There are plenty of us who have plenty of outfits that were just made for fall, and if you want to take a little peek in my closet, you will learn a few important trends that are going to be hot this year.

Color Blocking
We’ve all heard about color blocking, but it is hard to do effectively in the summer. This means that you will be in a great place to do it in the cool weather! Color blocking essentially involves embracing large swathes of deep color. Instead of pairing your favorite colors with neutrals, just wear your purple, your orange or your green as loudly as you wish. Remember that your shoe can even be included in this kind of design. Choose shoes that reflect or compliment a color that you are wearing and you’ll be sure to grab the attention of those around you!

Scarves
More and more women are getting invested in scarves this year, whether they are in love with the skinny, silky scarves that are perfect for any weather, or the thicker scarves that are ideal for the cooler temperatures. One creative way to wear a scarf is to double the scarf and pull the ends through the loop formed, creating a lark’s head knot around your neck. You can also simply leave it as it is and wrap it around your neck lightly. Scarves allow you to add color and motion to your outfit.

Consider Designer Glasses
More and more people are embracing designer glasses, and I am one of them! You wear your glasses every day, so why not consider making them a part of your outfit? Choose a bright metal or consider a pair with a unique shape or some rhinestones. Designer glasses are created to offset your face and to produce a rather dramatic effect, so consider how you want to use them to adorn your outfit.

If you are invested in making sure that you look wonderful for the coming fall weather, don’t hesitate to look into a wardrobe upgrade right now.
