HOW TO: Newspaper Nails

Happy Monday!!!
Another week has passed and so another one shall begin. I hope all of you guys had a great weekend spent with family and friends. I know I did.
Last Friday, I got to see One Direction live!!! It was so cool. But I'll share more on that later this week. :)

For today, I will be showing a HOW TO for Newspaper Nails! Yay!!!
I have been wanting to try this nail design ever since I saw it on Instagram, so I am super excited to share it with you guys.

Let's get on with it...

You will need:

- a base coat
- a nail polish of your choice
- a top coat
- rubbing alcohol
- cotton swabs
- 10 pieces of newspaper or magazine cuts

STEP 1: Apply base coat on your nails.

This is an important step because I'm sure you wouldn't want your nails to turn yellow, right?

STEP 2: Apply the nail polish of your choice.

I decided to go with a pinky, nude shade. I used Dr.'s REMEDY NURTURE Nude Pink.
I have been reading a lot about Dr.'s REMEDY. Everyone seems to love how amazing it is, so I decided to try it. It is on the pricey side (one bottle costs $17), but it's a really good quality nail polish. It dries quickly and it doesn't crack.
I also like how the money I spent went to Living Beyond Cancer in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Now THAT is a good deal! :D

STEP 3: Pour rubbing alcohol into a bowl.

I just used the cap of the alcohol bottle. It works just as well.
Also, don't forget to cover your table with paper towels just in case the alcohol spills.

STEP 4: Soak the piece of newspaper or magazine cutout for 60 seconds in the bowl of rubbing alcohol.

You want it to be completely soaked so the ink comes off easily when you apply it to your nails.

STEP 5: Wrap the newspaper or magazine cutout around your fingernail.

Press on it really hard. Take a cotton swab drenched in alcohol and rub it against the newspaper cutout. This is to ensure that the ink will soak through to your nails.

STEP 6: Leave the newspaper on for 1 1/2 minutes.

Don't take it out right away, otherwise the ink won't soak through completely. You can do the next nail while waiting for the newspaper to dry. It'll make it faster. :)

STEP 7: Apply clear top coat.

After you've done all of your nails, make sure to apply top coat. This will give your nails a shiny texture and it will also prevent it from chipping. Make sure to also clean the excess nail polish on your skin with cotton swabs and nail polish remover!

TADA!!! Here is the finished look.

I love it sooooooo much. I couldn't stop staring at them when I finished.
I'm completely obsessed!!!
It's a super fun and easy design. Absolutely anyone can do it!

Hope you guys liked this little tutorial.
If you guys end up trying it, tweet me a picture!!!

  4. Sorry, what would be the UK equivalent to 'rubbing alcohol'? I'm really not familiar with the term :/

    1. Hi Cami! I did a little research and I saw that 'surgical alcohol' is the UK equivalent to 'rubbing alcohol. I'm hoping that's right. LOL. :)
