Katy Perry's Sesame Street Issue

I was watching TMZ yesterday with my brother and there was this issue about Katy Perry showing way too much cleavage while singing a duet with little Elmo on Sesame Street!

Apparently, parents were offended! Hmm, i don't know what to say.

See for yourself...

I personally don't think she's showing that much. I've seen worse!

But then again, I'm not a parent.

I don't have kids so I don't really know how they feel!

**I also have a review and giveaway coming up sponsored by another lovely blogger. It's a surprise!

What's your opinion? Is she showing way too much?!

  1. I saw the video the other day with my 18 month old and had absolutely no problem whatsoever with the way she was dressed. I really don't understand what all the fuss is about. I liked the song and her outfit -after all it is part of her persona as a singer.

  2. @Emy: exactly! she's kinda wearing a tinkerbell costume! it doesn't look bad at all!

  3. I was really surprised that she chose to wear that for Sesame Street. My daughter is 3 and watches it often. I've seen so many famous women on it before like SJP and Cameron Diaz and all those women dressed modestly. Katy's shirt is showing a lot of skin and the shirt is pointy on the nipple area, an odd choice for a children's program.

  4. like you said, I'm not a parent so I don't know if I'll feel offended or not if I have my baby watching it with me.

    honestly, Miley Cyrus is actually worse than Katy Perry's cleavage showing in a tinkerbell outfit.

  5. @BottledBeauty: hmm, i see your point! She could've atleast worn a tank top?

    @Emmaleigh: that's what i thought. hahaha.

  6. The outfit is alright but it's not a good example for younger girls.

    Imagine a 3 year old wearing that...

    Thanks for the video, Carrie!:D

  9. I am a mother of four and I don't think they would even notice! I thought it was cute ( a little bouncy when running, but atleast they weren't singing " I kissed a Girl"

  11. Definitely not a fan of what she wore, I get that society has been portraying more and more nakedness on TV and Magazines but rewind to when I was 5-6 watching sesame street and I would probably want to be her for Halloween. I wouldn't want my child thinking that was appropriate..you want them to stay innocent to all that sexiness for as long as possible!! But thats just me :) ....I'm not a parent yet.

  13. I think she could have been better put-together for the show - more ladylike in order not to offend parents. Of course some find the outfit very fitting, but most people think the opposite.

  14. i heard about this.
    i think the parents are kinda overreacting, but that's just me.

  15. Well i think her outfit is fine but not for the show. they should have done a better job on her wardorbe so parents wont react that way. i agree with the above comment "more lady like"

  16. Honestly I don't know why parents get offended by this. Everywhere you go you see cleavage popping here and even ppl wearing shirts with adult content and kids can see and read those. As adults we see things that kids don't notice themselves because they don't have that mentality yet. I bet they were jumping just like elmo to this and not bothering with her skin showing. AND once again, It is not a show or a celebrity to teach kids the right from wrong, it's the parents. The same thing happens with other celebrities that try to live their lives how they want just like we are doing and parents are attacking for the things they do. As a MOTHER/PARENT you should be a role model to your child, not leave it up to others.

    @Carrie: Sorry if I'm being to blunt here, didn't mean to come to your page and vent, but just my point of view.

  17. My opinion is that it is a show for KIDS. This isn't a fashion show where you need to be wearing the latest slutty stuff. I'm sorry but I just think that when your doing a kids show you should cover yourself up a bit. Like the comment before, they may not notice it like we do but they are being accustomed to it and learning that it's completely acceptable to dress this way. I'm not a mom but I know that I wouldn't want my little 3 year old girl to want to dress like that. I know I'm being blunt but...ITS FREAKING SESAME STREET, not a music video. Be modest for the kids sake.

  18. @Marie: yeah. but it's not like they're gonna wear it.

    @Michelle: hahaha. wow.

    @Keira: thanks for stopping by!

    @Georgia: haaha. true.

    @Margaret: aww, thank you!

    @Lorin: hahaha. i get your point. i wouldn't want my kids to want to dress like that either.

    @Diana: :D

    @Fasion: mhhmm.

    @Dizzy: i think so too. but i'm not one to talk. haha. i'm not a parent.

    @Panda: maybe some jeans and a cute shirt?

    @Angelys: no problem! I totally understand! It's true though. If you set a good example for your kids, they're grow up just fine:D

    @Sarah: I get you too! I guess i wouldn't really know how i'd react to it until i'm a mom. :D Thanks for stopping by.

  20. I saw this on E News! Lol. I think it's ridiculous. I don't think little kids would be paying attention to her breasts unlike adults!

  21. It is an odd choice of outfit for that show but it's not too bad.
    I wasj ust surprised to see how much Sesame Street has changed since I used to watch it about 18 years ago! Do they not use real sets anymore?!

  22. @Bree: :D

    @Susie: hahahhaa. apparently, she's setting a bad example!

    @Laura: hmmm, i never really watched Sesame street. haha.

  23. i heard about this, but this is the first time i saw the video. her outfit is not that kid-friendly, but it's not overly revealing either. and she's not really wearing a tube top. there was a sheer material covering it, right? haha, but yeah, i'm not a parent either, so i don't really know what to say.

    p.s. i agree with susie! haha.

  25. ... It's Katy Perry. not exactly sure why she chose to be featured next to Elmo, but hey, her main audience is teenagers and young adults, so we don't have a problem with how she's dressed~

    Besides, I'm sure kids these days have seen plenty more disturbing than a pretty lady in an outfit that's no worse than a one piece swimsuit.
